Pets, mostly dogs
We are happy to take pets here in all our cottages, but do ask for consideration towards our animals and other guests who may not share our love of animals.
We ask for a maximum of 2 dogs per cottage. Charge is £5 per dog per night.
There is plenty of good walking from the gate where your dog can go off lead and have a run so please keep your dog on a lead around the cottage grounds due to lambs, free range chickens and other guests. Please do ask us about walks if you would like suggestions or directions, depending on the time of year some are less muddy!
Please ensure the person responsible for the the dog in your group is aware that a barking dog, inside or out at anytime of day or night will spoil the stay of our other guests.
If you want to go out for the day without your dog, the neighbouring kennels take day borders (01538 266667), several of the local pubs are happy to accept dogs (in other words we don’t like dogs left alone in cottages please- problems with barking and damage in the past, and although your dog may be perfect at home in a strange place they can become stressed)
When your dog goes to the toilet, please clear up even on our fields, tie the bag and put in the black dustbin at the gate by the pond. Dog feces can cause farm stock to become infertile. We have bags if you need some.
Please try to toilet your dog in the field rather than on the lawns, garden areas or up the cottage walls. (we know it’s not always that simple, it’s just that our dog remarks his territory and we end up with lots of unsightly brown patches in the lawn).
Please bring your own freshly laundered dog’s bed.
Should you need to wash your dog off, please use the hosepipe in the yard or the boot wash by the spring pool in the car park. We have plenty of dog towels you are welcome to borrow, just ask.
Please don’t think we’re picking on you personally, we’re sure you are a responsible dog owner. It’s just that we have had a few owners being thoughtless and abusing our trust.
We hope you enjoy your stay with your pet.
